YELM FRESH...an online farmers marketplace food hub
Our goal is to increase access to local safe organic food for our Yelm community and next door neighbors, supporting our already well-established Yelm Food Co-op and Yelm Farmers Market. Strengthening our local food system is what we are up to.
As we are becoming more aware, there is a strong sense of food insecurity. Not only do we need to grow more food, we need to grow more farmers and create more food producers. Our hope is this Yelm Fresh food hub can provide yet another and easy venue for our farmers, gardeners and food producers to sell their goods.
Yelm Fresh is entering Level Two in our real-world beta testing before opening it to the community, testing the software and systems for functionality before inviting in more food producers. Initially we're working with a few Yelm farmers: Mari, Karla, Jennifer and a Yelm food producer Susie. Once we feel all systems are go with the software we'll start expanding the offerings of vegetables, fruits, meat, dairy, and flowers for starters, and as the growing season starts to bloom.
Right now we're inviting in Mari's Farm customers to help us in this testing as we need to learn how it is working for you, the customers. If that sounds like fun, welcome aboard! And thank you Mari for sharing this with your fans, of which you have many. We are so grateful for you in our community.
